BUSINESS GHOSTWRITING
A complete book, from start to finish, written in your voice and based on your insight and experience. Ideal for executives, entrepreneurs, consultants, thought leaders, and professionals
We’ve written books for leaders and luminaries in the fields of finance and investing, human resources, real estate, architecture and engineering, spirituality, psychology, medicine, and financial advising, and we have an unparalleled understanding of what makes a business book work–and what makes it fail.
How Does It Work?
First, you’ll work with the ghostwriter to develop a “book plan” that clarifies the message and target audience, articulates your goals for the book, and established a chapter by chapter outline. Once you’re happy with the book plan, we dive into the writing.
Most of the content will be gathered from interviews between you and the ghostwriter (about one hour per chapter), supplemented by outside research as needed. You’ll have to chance to review each chapter and give feedback to make sure we get the voice, style, and content right. For an extra fee, we’ll also take care of typesetting, formatting, and design: everything you need to get your book out into the world.
What Does It Cost and How Long Does It Take?
For a typical 45,000-word book (around 175 pages printed), the cost is $32,000 (paid in installments).
We can start with a test chapter for $2000 so you don’t have to commit to the whole project all at once.
It takes four to six months to complete the book though shorter time frames are possible. The total time commitment on your end is 25-35 hours.
Is My Anonymity/Confidentiality Guaranteed? Who Owns the Copyright?
You are the unequivocal 100% owner of the intellectual property (which is stated explicitly in the contract.) And your confidentiality is also contractually guaranteed. That said, these days, many authors who work with a ghostwriter are more relaxed about divulging that relationship. The popularization of ghostwriting has erased any stigma around hiring a ghostwriter, and more to the point, a ghostwritten work is not unilaterally created by the writer after which the author slaps his name on it. It’s really a co-created work based on your experience, insight, and voice.
How Can a Book Help Me, My Business, or My Career?
A fair question, because it is a five-figure investment, and it should earn a return. It is a marketing and promotion tool that has enduring value for author and reader alike. In some industries it’s beneficial; in others, such as coaching or speaking, it’s essential. I’ve written about how you can earn money from a book, how you can lucratively leverage it for other professional benefits, and how it can bolster your reputation as a subject matter expert or as the go-to service provider in your field.
How Can I Stand Out in the Market?
Besides, “what is my book actually about?”, this is perhaps the most important question because therein lies its value. Books are like businesses: if you’re merely reproducing what your competitors have already done, you risk fading into the background, part of the amorphous mass of professionals saying and doing the same things.
We work with authors in the book planning stage to fine-tune a thesis, and a story, that will be unique and attention-grabbing. A good book offers fresh insight. Sometimes it means presenting a radical new idea; other times it entails covering old ground from a surprising angle or unusual perspective. Or maybe your “unique value proposition” lies in your background, so what you’re saying is not appreciably different from what others are saying, but the perspective you bring, and the way you say it, infuses the text with novelty and power.
The book planning process also involves looking at similar titles on the market, and understanding book market trends broadly, maybe finding a niche that is underexplored, or getting ahead of the game by penning a definitive work on a major trend.
If you have succeeded in business, it is because you possess ideas, skills, and expertise that are unmatched. We’ll help you translate that uniqueness into a book.
Let’s talk about your book.
